International development charity Transaid is hoping its popular Christmas e-card appeal will raise £15,000 in the charity's 15th anniversary year.
Each Christmas the charity encourages the transport industry to spread festive cheer electronically, whilst donating to a worthwhile cause. In return for their support, companies receive a tailored version of Transaid's e-card personalised with their logo. Their logo will also appear in Christmas advertisements in Motor Transport and Coach & Bus Week magazines.
All money raised from Transaid's Christmas Appeal will help the charity continue to develop a number of projects in Africa, including those that help make roads safer, as road crashes continue to be the third biggest killer after HIV/AIDS and Malaria in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Neil Rettie, who is currently on secondment from Stagecoach to run Transaid's Professional Driver Training Programme in Tanzania, says: "Road crashes are just needlessly wasting people's lives, so we really do need the support of our colleagues and friends in the transport industry to make projects like the one I am running in Tanzania possible."
Transaid's Chief Executive, Gary Forster, adds: "Raising £15,000 at the end of our 15th year would be a perfect end to 2013.
"This year's e-card is really special and we hope all our supporters in the transport industry will enjoy sending it to their friends and family, and know their support is helping Transaid continue with vital work across Africa."
