Christian Salvesen is GM Supplier of the Year

Christian Salvesen, one of the UK's biggest logistics providers, was recognised as a General Motors 2006 Supplier of the Year for its overall business performance in providing GM with world-class parts and services. The 15th annual award – themed the "Best of the Best" -- was given at a ceremony on Saturday, 31st March at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes in Orlando, USA.

"We are proud to honour Christian Salvesen as one of the 'Best of the Best' GM suppliers in 2006," said Bo Andersson, GM group vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. "Christian Salvesen achieved the award based on outstanding performance in 2006. We appreciate their energy, hard work and dedication to the success of GM."

This is the second year in a row that the company has been awarded the prestigious title, which is only given to suppliers who drive their businesses to be world class and exceed GM's expectations in quality, service, technology and price.

Stewart Oades, chief executive at Christian Salvesen, said: "A GM Supplier of the Year Award is highly regarded within the industry and we're delighted that our supply chain services throughout Europe have been recognised in this way.

"It reflects our efforts to partner with our customers to deliver impressive customer service and exceed expectations and demonstrates the reliable, flexible approach taken by all those involved with the GM contract."

The GM Supplier of the Year award began as a global program in 1992. Winners are selected by a global team of executives from purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and logistics who base their decisions on supplier performance in quality, service, technology and price. This year, General Motors honoured 89 suppliers for their outstanding performance throughout 2006.

For Christian Salvesen, this second consecutive Supplier of the Year Award adds to the five previous awards that Transport Services UK and Christian Salvesen Gerposa have won in recent years.
