Cartwright staff complete Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride

On one of the hottest weekends on record 30 Cartwright directors and staff completed the annual Manchester to Blackpool bike ride.

Raising funds for a local power chair football team, Sale United PFC, the Cartwright team raised over £4000.00 to help aid the Sale United's costs for the coming season.

First established in July 2009, the power chair football team is open to any young members of the local community with debilitating illnesses allowing them an opportunity to take part in competitive sport when it would not otherwise be possible.

The Cartwright team assembled at 7am on Sunday morning and completed the ride in good time, before the intense heat of the afternoon, allowing them a little down time by the sea.

Steven Cartwright, Joint Managing Director of Cartwright said: "I'm really proud of everyone for taking part today, the heat was intense, but we all got through it and I'm sure we've all had some fun with a great cause getting some much needed funds."

The money raised will go towards the cost of repair to keep the wheelchairs in action, and also helping to cover the hire of the sports hall and the insurance premiums. All vital elements to keep the team going over the course of the season.

The cause is something close to Cartwright's Freight Manager, Mark Hudson, whose son plays for the team.

"I'm really pleased that Cartwright's chose to help our team out. Since it was formed in 2009 we've seen how much of a positive impact the team provides to the kids. This money will help the team continue on for the forthcoming season."

Body and trailer manufacturer Cartwright have been manufacturing from their South Manchester location for over 60 years.
