Cartwright Rentals Division invests £15 million over two years in new rental trailers
Cartwright Rentals, the fast expanding rentals division of the Cartwright Group, has announced a record year in 2015.
The division’s annual turnover increased by 5 per cent to about £21million last year with another major increase in the size of its rental trailer fleet of between 7 and 8 per cent to expand the company trailer park to over 5500.
This significant increase has partly been fuelled by the company’s increased activity in the temperature controlled market with more refrigerated products, mostly double deck trailers, entering the Cartwright Fleet as the company has developed new technologies which have attracted increased volumes.
Sales in Scotland have also been particularly successful increasing the company’s market share north of the border as a result of a healthy increase in new accounts, many blue-chip operators signing up for long term rental contracts.
Furthermore, the company’s rental division has undertaken a highly successful refurbishment programme of trailers, around 6 years old, with 350 units complete with Cartwright livery, being handled through Cartwright’s Fleet Services division at Aldridge. The success of the refurbishment programme is likely to see it continue in 2016 with a further 500 refurbished trailers.
The operation is planning to open a new Rentals branch in South Yorkshire in 2016 and has recently appointed new Regional Sales Manager Jonathan Willacy with responsibility for Yorkshire and the north east.
Paul Burn, Rental Sales Director of Cartwright Rentals commented: “It has been another very good year for our Rentals division through controlled expansion and we are cautiously optimistic that it will be another positive year in 2016.
“In addition to the on-going refurbishment programme, we are bringing in a significant number new trailers into the fleet this year in a £6-£7 million investment programme. This will mean that we will have invested about £15 million in our trailer fleet over two years, which is a huge investment particularly when you consider that the Rentals division was only launched in 2007,” he added.
The new kit for the Cartwright Rentals Fleet will include double deck curtainsiders, double deck refrigeration equipment and the new Urban City Trailer, with curtain, refrigerated and box vans options available.
