CarrierNetOnline Wins Major European Award

for Best Supply Chain e-business Solution

CarrierNetOnline (CNO), the web based logistics management Software as a Service (SaaS) solution from Deltion (www.deltion.co.uk) was awarded the European Supply Chain Distinction award for Best Supply Chain e-business Solution. This is the third recent major award for CNO and follows on from major new signings with TDG and UPS-SCS.

The award was given for the best implementation of an operational or business system to an organisation that can best demonstrate that it has effectively used information technology to create a significant and exploitable competitive or operational advantage in any business or process area. Evidence was required of a well thought-through and executed strategy, addressing not only the deployment of the technology, but also its effective uptake by users and operators.

The solution supplied by Deltion is a complete on-demand logistics and transport management service for a wide range of companies. It is developed and supplied by Deltion as a web based Software as a Service solution. CNO harnesses the power of the Internet to deliver cost effective logistics management and end-to-end visibility to users.

This revolutionary software is available as a web-based On Demand service, without the need for investment in software licenses, hardware, IT support or maintenance. It is a straightforward pay-as-you-use model, which ensures that the service pays for itself almost immediately. It is the equivalent of a utility service for logistics – users do not own the infrastructure, the license or employ the development and maintenance staff. They just pay for and use the output – namely the software – as they need it

The judging criteria included functionality, performance and ease of use; performance; process improvement; and cost-efficiency. David West, Deltion Business Development Director, said "We are particularly proud to have won this award because the other companies shortlisted (Royal Mail, GXS and Infosys) are all giants in their own industry. The judging was a close call and eventually the final judgement was made by Dr Shoumen Datta, Research Director of MIT Massachusetts Institute of Technology Forum for Supply Chain Innovation in Boston, USA. This is recognition by one of the world's leading experts on Supply Chain technology".

Other recent awards for CarrierNetOnline were the Web Based Transport Management Solution award from the Institute of Transport Management and the award to CNO user Hazchem Network as one of Britain's Digital Elite for its use of CNO.
