Bott industrial racking and shelving systems sponsor world land speed record attempt

Bott Ltd, the UK's leading manufacturer of workplace and industrial storage solutions, has confirmed its involvement in a ground-breaking land speed record attempt, racing to support The BLOODHOUND Project as a product sponsor.

The BLOODHOUND Super Sonic Car (SSC) is currently situated adjacent to Brunel's SS Great Britain in Bristol, where the vehicle set to exceed the top speed of 1000mph is being assembled. The agreement see's bott supporting the project through the provision of its highly durable workshop storage solutions, which have been installed throughout the car assembly workshops.

bott has provided cupboards, drawer units and workbenching from its bott cubio range for use in the build, fabrication and engineering workshops. Due to the highly sophisticated set up of the project's operations, bott products have been specified to meet the requirements of each engineer, with every individual having their own storage cupboard and workbench for tools and equipment specific to their role.

The BLOODHOUND Project is a World Land Speed Record attempt aiming to inspire young people to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM subjects) by showcasing them in the most exciting way possible - by building a car capable of reaching 1,000 mph.

As a UK manufacturer that has a strong focus on utilising the latest production technologies and maximising the skills of its workforce to deliver bott's original-thinking vision, the project is closely aligned with the company's ethos, as Clive Woodward, Group Managing Director from bott explains:

"We are really privileged to be involved in such an outstanding project that shares similar values to our own business. The superior build quality of the vehicle and the level of detail that is going into making this project such a success is something which we are delighted to be supporting. The added bonus is the strong focus on the educational aspect of the project as it's vital that if UK manufacturing is going to stand any chance of surviving, we need to be encouraging a new generation of pioneers into the industry. This project is a great showcase for British engineering and helps to raise our profile on a world stage."

"The whole Project is really gathering momentum" said Richard Noble, Project Director, "with the fantastic support from sponsors like bott we are on target to start building the car in spring 2011."

bott's ingenuity led to the use of new technology in the build of its bott cubio range, with a riveting system creating durable, engineered housings that have enabled the production of a wider range of storage configurations, giving customers more choice. The end result is a hard-working and functional yet stylish range.

The bott cubio collection includes workbenches, cabinets and workstands, which are also available as mobile units, giving customers the flexibility to safely move tools, equipment, components and work surfaces to wherever they are needed. Industrial cupboards with an array of door options are also available to meet large capacity requirements, even where space is an issue.
