Bartrums rolls out new dual-branded trailers in major fleet investment

The Suffolk haulier is investing heavily in fleet upgrades as part of a major expansion drive

A Suffolk haulage firm has unveiled a major fleet upgrade after taking delivery of new trailers as part of what it describes as a “year of growth”.

Bartrums has added 15 dual-branded trailers to its fleet following a six-figure investment, with the vehicles carrying both Bartrums and Pallet-Track branding. The move highlights the company’s long-standing relationship with the pallet network, which it joined as a founding member in 2004.

The new additions take the firm’s fleet to more than 200 vehicles and form part of a wider investment drive aimed at expanding capacity and modernising operations.

Operations director Tremayne Johnson said the new trailers mark an important milestone for the business. “As founding members of Pallet Track in 2004 we couldn’t be prouder of our new dual-branded trailers,” he said.

He added that the partnership remains central to the company’s offering. “Our membership of Pallet Track is absolutely integral to our overall portfolio of services… All our customers will also see them so it’s a great way to raise awareness of our network and visibly demonstrate this alliance.”

The investment signals the start of a broader programme of spending, with the company planning further fleet expansion over the coming months. Johnson said: “This is just the start of a big year for us in terms of procurement and expanding our fleet.”

Bartrums has earmarked around ÂŁ4 million this year to upgrade its vehicles and develop a new electric vehicle charging facility, reflecting a push towards more modern and efficient operations. The latest delivery includes 15 high-spec trailers, 12 of which were manufactured by German firm Schmitz Cargobull.

Pallet-Track chief executive Stuart Godman welcomed the move, describing it as “an exciting year of growth for Bartrums”. He said the company had been instrumental in the network’s development, adding: “They are a first-class business, and it is great that even more customers will learn about our long-standing partnership through these trailers.”

He also pointed to the scale of the investment as a sign of confidence in the sector. “To see this level of investment is exciting and is testament to the brilliant service they offer,” he said.

Aaron Howarth, East Midlands sales manager at Schmitz Cargobull, said the order reflects Bartrums’ commitment to upgrading its equipment. He said the trailers combine “flexibility, strength, safety and connected technology” and are expected to deliver long-term value for the business.
