Adam's on the crest of a wave with his Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport-X

Champion surfer Adam Zervas lives for the thrill of his next exhilarating ride - no surprise, then, that his new van is the most dynamic on the road.

Adam is based in the UK's surfing capital of Newquay, Cornwall, and chose an exciting yet practical Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport-X Dualiner.

Supplied by Roche dealer City West Commercials, the Long-bodied van is a real head-turner thanks to its Arctic White paintwork with customised and colour-coded BRABUS front spoiler, 18" five-spoke alloys and chrome sidebars.

The Sport-X also has the power to match its muscular good looks because lurking beneath the bonnet is a 3.0-litre V6 engine which pumps out an eye-watering 224hp and drives via a five-speed automatic transmission.

Born and brought up in South Africa, Adam has lived in the UK since 1986. For most of his career Adam competed on longboards but he is best-known now for helping to kick-start the fast-growing sport of stand-up paddle surfing - he is a two-time English champion and has taken part in events as far afield as Hawaii.

"Paddling surfing is relatively easy for beginners to learn, because you can practice on a flat body of water," he explained. "But it's also highly addictive and once you're out on the ocean it can be every bit as invigorating as other forms of surfing, as well as great exercise."

When he's not riding the waves Adam works as a self-employed agent, selling branded surf products such as Reef sandals and Dragon sunglasses to retailers throughout the South-West and West Wales.

And he reckons his new Mercedes-Benz is the perfect vehicle for his busy, active lifestyle. "It's like having a really nice car and a van all rolled into one," he declared.

"I chose the Dualiner specification for its second row of seats, which means I can get out and about with the family. And whether I'm out on the road and working, or off to the beach, it will also carry everything I need - I can get a 10ft paddle board in the back no problem."

Not that Adam is new to the benefits of Mercedes-Benz van ownership. "I really appreciate German engineering and have had several Vito models down the years, a couple of which were company vehicles before I decided to go it alone," he continued.

"But my first Sport-X is definitely the best yet. I think it looks fantastic and so does my 10-year-old son Jordan, who loves the BRABUS spoiler and wheels.

"It's great fun to drive too, with superb handling. As soon as you switch on, the engine note lets you know there's loads of power beneath your right foot. So you've bags of acceleration when required, but most of the time it's a cruiser; thanks in part to the auto 'box, progress seems effortless and the van just glides along."

Like all Vito and Sprinter van models retailed through the official Mercedes-Benz dealer network, Adam's new Sport-X came with a market-leading, three-year, unlimited mileage warranty, and a free Mercedes-Benz ServicePackage (terms & conditions apply). This covers all labour, materials and lubricants required in routine servicing at an official Mercedes-Benz workshop, for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever is reached first.

"My vehicle is also my calling card so I wanted something that stood out, and when City West's Sales Executive Fred Whitmarsh pointed me in the direction of the Sport-X I quickly realised it would be perfect," added Adam.

"As for the warranty and ServicePackage, in this day and age when things are tight I reckon they add up to a phenomenal offer that gives me complete peace of mind."
