This year, the Logistics Hall of Fame has received 31 proposals from Austria, Germany, Japan, Switzerland and the USA - more than ever before. The names of the candidates will not be publicly announced, but “the proposals for the Logistics Hall of Fame read like a Who’s Who of international logistics”, says Anita Würmser, executive chairperson of the jury. Most of the names are entrepreneurs and managers from the logistics services, CEP and internet trading sectors.
At a meeting of the nomination committee at the Federal Ministry of Transport in June, the committee members will review all the proposals and nominate ten names in the first round of voting. In the second round of voting, the 46-strong expert jury will then elect the new member of the Logistics Hall of Fame from this shortlist. The vote of the jury will be announced in October, and the newly elected member will be officially inducted into the Logistics Hall of Fame during a festive reception at the Federal Ministry of Transport.
The members of the nomination committee will be:
• Detthold Aden, member of the Logistics Hall of Fame
• Dorothee Bär, State Secretary at the Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure
Logistics Coordinator of the Federal Government
• Birgit Bauer, Editor-in-Chief, VerkehrsRundschau
• Prof. Dr. Michael ten Hompel, Managing Director of the Fraunhofer IML Dortmund and member of the Logistics Hall of Fame
• Thilo Jörgl, Editor-in-Chief, Logistik heute
• Adalbert Wandt, President of the German Association of Road Haulage, Logistics and Disposal (BGL)
• Anita Würmser, Executive Chairperson of the Logistics Hall of Fame jury
The initiative is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Transport as well as the relevant sector associations, media and companies, including the Port of Duisburg (duisport), logistics insurer Kravag, the Fahrzeugwerk Bernard Krone company, intralogistics provider Still, the Federal Central Cooperative for Road Transport (SVG) and the TimoCom freight exchange.
The aim of the Logistics Hall of Fame is to document key milestones in logistics and honour the people behind them, in order to underline the performance capability of logistics and to improve the image of logistics. The Logistics Hall of Fame can be accessed free of charge at any time at www.logisticshalloffame.de.
