The United Kingdom Warehousing Association (UKWA) is sad to announce the death of Alan Grant.
Alan, who was managing director of Lingfield Warehousing, had served on the UKWA executive council for several years and had been the Association's Vice Chairman on two occasions. He was a former Chairman of the Warehouse Industry Training Organisation and UKWA's representative on the National Training Organisation. Recently he served as Board member of Skills for Logistics Sector Skills Council (SfL).
Roger Williams, chief executive officer of UKWA, commented: "Alan's work chairing steering groups to develop NVQ, and Modern Apprenticeships was immense and his stolid determination, thick skin, and a total dedication to driving up the skills levels of our industry made him a respected and effective representative. He will be sorely missed."
Founded in 1944, UKWA has over 600 members providing storage and third party logistics services, and represents the industry to both commerce and government.
