Logistics and transport company Norbert Dentressangle secure contract with camping specialists Sunnflair

09 February 2010

Norbert Dentressangle, the leading European logistics and transport company, has announced that it has secured a new contract with camping specialists, Sunnflair.

As a market leader in its field, Sunnflair designs and manufactures camping and outdoor equipment including tents, sleeping bags, electrical supplies, cooking apparatus and gas stoves, which are stocked in retail outlets throughout the UK.

Sue Saunders, Sunnflair Sales Supervisor, comments: "Norbert Dentressangle has provided us with a cost-effective transport solution that means we can offer a reliable, next day service to our stockists - including the safe delivery of hazardous gas products. The SHARP technology allows us to track and trace our orders easily and respond to any customer enquires both quickly and effectively."

Prior to the new arrangement, the company was using several external carriers to collect and distribute its products. However, unsatisfactory service combined with cost issues prompted a review of its operations and the appointment of Norbert Dentressangle Transport Services as its primary transport provider.

Norbert Dentressangle makes up to 15 collections per day from Sunnflair premises at Chelmsford and Ipswich. Next day deliveries are then made to the company's 2,800 retail stockists across the country as required. The distribution network also has the flexibility to accommodate rising volumes prior to and during the peak trading spring and summer months.

In addition, the service incorporates the transportation of Sunnflair gas stoves and cylinders, which are subject to strict ADR (Accord Dangereux Routier) carriage requirements. To meet these specialist European regulations covering the movement of dangerous goods, Norbert Dentressangle ensures that its vehicles and drivers are equipped to transport these products safely to their destination.

A key benefit for Sunnflair is access to the bespoke SHARP (Shipment Handling and Reporting Program) technology provided by Norbert Dentressangle. The online system enables the customer to place multiple delivery orders at its head office in Chelmsford, which are transmitted electronically to Norbert Dentressangle before being distributed to vehicles across its shared-user network.
