Courier company Abby Couriers demonstrate electric powered delivery vehicle at Havering Town Hall

15 March 2010

Basildon-based courier company Abby Couriers will be demonstrating its electric powered delivery vehicle at Havering Town Hall in Romford on Wednesday 17 March 2010.

Managing Director of Abby Couriers, Mark Giles, said: "Last autumn Abby Couriers launched three electric powered delivery vehicles on to the streets of London on regular delivery routes and they have proved a great success cutting carbon emissions in the capital and proving reliable and cost effective for our customers.

"Havering Council heard about the success of these vehicles, which are based in Vauxhall, and have asked to see them which is why we will be at Romford Town Hall on Wednesday 17 March 2010 so senior council officers can put the van through its paces to see if it would work for them.

"With deliveries to schools, leisure centres, offices and other premises across the Borough Havering has need for a reliable courier service and using electric powered vehicles could be a big benefit as it provides such a service and reduces fuel costs.

"We are confident electric vehicles will be a cost effective and environmentally friendly solution to the delivery requirements of Havering Council and hope that our demonstration will show that this is the way forward for them."
