Staff Training and Development and
Business to Business
Managing Director at Abby Couriers, Mark Giles, said: "when we were encouraged to enter two categories in the Basildon Business Awards we thought we were being optimistic especially as earlier this year we had won the Business to Business category of the |Essex County Business Awards.

"When the announcement was made that we had won in the Staff Development and Training category the team was jubilant as we invest a lot of time and resources in training our staff from managers who are encouraged to develop their skills and expertise in health and safety, human resources etc through to office staff who are encouraged to gain additional qualifications in customer care,, accounts etc.

"But equally important is the investment in training for our drivers as they are the people who meet our customers when they collect parcels and who meet our customers' customers when they deliver them.

"That is why we are working with Ixion Holdings to develop ad pilot a brand new NVQ qualification specifically for courier drivers which covers areas such as customer care, vehicle security, health and safety, courteous driving and manual handling so that our team of drivers are simply the best ones on the road.

"This award recognised that work and we were delighted to receive it but then shocked a few minutes later to hear than we had won a second award for in the Business to Business category.

"We always pride ourselves on going that extra mile for our customers who are businesses to provide them with the reassurance that their package will be delivered on time and intact and at a competitive price so to have that confirmed by these independent judges is fantastic.

"As a family firm this public recognition of our work is very important to us and these awards will now be proudly displayed at our Head Office in Luckyn Lane."

Founded in 1994 Abby Couriers is a family run firm with a Head Office in Luckyn Lane, Basildon and offices at Welwyn Garden City.

With almost 200 staff the firm has more than 175 drivers on the road providing Same Day Delivery Services across the United Kingdom and Europe for key clients who include DHL, FEDEX and TNT.
