One of the UK's largest fleet operators is so impressed with TruckProtect's popular anti-fuel theft device the InstantFit NECK-IT that it has decided to fit the units to every new truck which it orders.

Travis Perkins, one of the UK's leading Builders Merchants, with more than 600 outlets across the country, was looking for an effective solution to the growing problem of fuel theft.

As the company runs one of the largest vehicle fleets in the country, preventing fuel theft and keeping costs to a minimum was a top priority and it investigated the NECK-IT.

Unlike more traditional anti-siphon devices, NECK-IT has no moving parts and offers an effective protection against fuel-skimming where diesel is siphoned off from the top of the tank.

Requiring no drilling or gluing, it is simple to fit in several minutes and it can also cope with fast-filling of fuel tanks at speeds of up to120 ltrs/min without spilling or splash backs.

Travis Perkins Group Transport Manager Graham Bellman said: Fuel theft is a problem, and it impacts directly upon our bottom line.

You cannot stop the most determined of fuel thieves, but the NECK-IT provides a valuable defense, and a positive deterrent against fuel skimming.

Coupled with our other security measures, and very careful fuel use monitoring, a good anti-siphon device offers very definite protection against a problem that is getting more, rather than less, pronounced.

It is a very simple, but extremely worthwhile product that, for a very modest outlay, can save a lot of money.

He was so impressed that Travis Perkins has now decided to specify an NECK-IT on every new truck it orders" which is a simple process as their chosen vehicle manufacturer DAF keeps a large stock of NECK-IT units on its TRP List.

Mr. Bellman explained: One of the key advantages for us is the fact that we can specify its inclusion through our new vehicle ordering process. It is supplied to us through the DAF network, and our supplying dealer takes care of fitting and commissioning.

When a new truck goes into service, it has an NECK-IT device fitted as standard.

Russell Fowler, Chief Executive of TruckProtect, said: We are very pleased that Travis Perkins has decided to fit an InstantFit Neck-It to every new truck it buys and we are confident that it will save them money in the long run.

The most popular anti-siphon device on the market, the NECK-IT is now fitted to more than 100,000 vehicles worldwide. There are versions to fit all trucks, a large number of diesel vans, buses and even public service vehicles such as road sweepers and American trucks including Peterbilt, Kenworth and Freightliner.
